Board approves $1.1 million to divide between schools

The Jackson Parish School Board approved a $1.1 million transfer from the general fund to be divided up between the Jackson Parish schools and the parishwide fund at their June school board meeting.

Boys and Girls Club teams up with Tech for Garden Party

Local volunteers and Master Gardeners mingled with children, tomatoes, squash, marigolds and zinnias on a mild mid-morning outside the salesroom on Louisiana Tech’s South Campus Thursday to enjoy the first-ever Garden Party, an event hosted by the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Louisiana.

New flag at Princeton Place in Ruston

Princeton Place of Ruston received a new flag from the Ruston VFW Post 3615 at the nursing home campus Monday. VFW members Tom Boniol (left) and Curtis Barham were on hand to facilitate the ceremony as residents came outside to participate in the patriotic event. Bocage neighbors offer book giveaway

Sallie Haddox and her daughter Lauren Vann recently treated their Bocage neighbors to a Saturday morning book giveaway. After setting up tables and bins that featured hundreds of books collected by their family through the years, they invited their neighbors to take whatever they would like before the books were donated to the new Rolling Hills Book Store. Jail halts mug shot releases

Anyone who is arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center will no longer see his or her mug shot released to the public, at least for now.

Flag Retirement Ceremony

Members of VFW Post 3615 joined forces with Blain Owens of Owens Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home to host the 2022 Flag Retirement Ceremony Tuesday. Following the protocol set forth by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, the veterans retired dozens of flags turned in over the past year.
