Quitman looks to spend grant money on roadwork equipment

The Quitman Town Council is looking to spend money from a grant on a side-by-side for roadside work in the community. Mayor Joe Vail said the town could combine multiple state Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP) grants to pay for the vehicle.

AgCenter hosts family fun day

JONESBORO – On May 14, the beautiful courtyard at Jonesboro Hodge Elementary School was filled with flowers, food, and laughter. The LSU AgCenter hosted an “Eat from the Garden Family Fun Day” event where parents of students were invited to enjoy the school’s newly renovated courtyard garden and experience their children’s school garden activities.

Members of the EZ Book Club recently donated a set of books to the Lincoln Parish Library to honor the late longtime educator Kathy Davis, who taught French in local schools. The ladies donated a collection of cookbooks, nonfiction, fiction and picture books about Paris, France. They said Paris and the library were two of Davis’ favorite places.

Palmer proposes utility rates hikes in Hodge

Hodge Mayor Gerald T. Palmer proposed at the June meeting of the Hodge town council to raise water rates to $32.50, sewer rates to $17, and garbage rates to $15.The proposed rate increase was discussion only.
