It was probably 20 years ago when I made my first and only visit to a Louisiana lake that has its ups and downs. I’m talking about Lake Yucatan, one of the many oxbow lakes in close proximity to the Mississippi River. My friend Mike Gammill from Oak Grove took me to the lake to give the crappie a try. We didn’t catch many but I was impressed by the size of the slabs we caught.

On Monday night, all the regulars came in the door with a bounce in their steps and looking for their favorite toys. This is the night of the week they come together, children from homes of neglect or abuse, and have free play time on bikes and scooters and a bouncy house. There is also a craft table and a coloring table available for their use.

City’s initial ambulance offer never reached full police jury

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury’s president and vice president were aware of an offer from the city of Ruston for parishwide ambulance and rescue service for the majority of 2021 but never brought it to the jury for a vote.
