The 1972 State Championship American Legion baseball team will have a 50th reunion gettogether Saturday at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center. The 1972 T.L. James Contractors, coached by legendary Billy Henderson, stopped domination from south Louisiana, with New Orleans winning six championships from 1964-75. Metairie won back-to-back titles in 1970 and 1971 before Ruston took the title back to north Louisiana. The Contractors came close in 1971, finishing as runner-up. It would be 35 years before another north Louisiana team captured the trophy, with Bossier City winning in 2007. The reunion will start with a meet and greet from 5-6 p.m. followed by a meal at 6 p.m., when plenty of baseball stories will be exchanged.
