Businesses in the town of Dubach may soon be limited in how they can display and sell “sexually oriented merchandise.” The Dubach Town Council at its regular meeting Monday introduced an ordinance that, if passed, would prohibit businesses from displaying “sexually oriented merchandise” from storefront windows, among other restrictions.
The city of Ruston is gearing up for a referendum on expanded alcohol sales even though it won’t know until sometime in November whether a vote will take place.

Mary Elizabeth Shumate Ball of Ruston, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the age of 96. She was born September 12, 1926, in Meridian, Mississippi, to the late Lala Elaine McDonald Shumate and Tripp Eli Shumate.
Our little fighter, Rebecca Roane, has finally gained her Angel Wings. She quietly moved to Heaven on the 16th of September. Becky was born to Richard and Mary Jo McGrain Roane on 8-261971 in Geneva, New York. She went on to live and work in Texarkana Texas, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Ruston and Heidelberg Germany, before settling for good in Bokeelia Florida. She bravely fought serious health issues from birth while always worrying more about others than herself. She knew and befriended everyone; her 16 years of Walmart customers would stop her on the street to talk with her and would wait in line to use her checkout.
