A construction worker on a lift station project on Lee Avenue in Ruston died shortly after 9 a.m. today when a wall of the excavated site in which he was working collapsed on top of him.

Casting complete for Elf: The Musical

Christmas is a little over two months away but Elf: The Musical will dash into Ruston Dec. 1- 4 at the Dixie Center for the Arts, in a production by the Ruston Community Theatre. Steele Moegle, Ph.D., an accomplished pianist, and Associate Professor of Music at Louisiana Tech University, is directing the Christmas themed musical based on the book and New Line Cinema film made famous by legendary comedic actor Will Ferrell and the late James Caan. Buddy the Elf makes his way from the North Pole to New York City in search of his birth father. After being raised by Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Christmas elves, he is now ready to discover his New York familial ties.

Surveying option provides student with internship opportunity

When Construction Engineering Technology senior and Oak Grove native John Kyler Hill learned that the program was offering a Surveying option, he knew he’d found the perfect course sequence to prepare him for the career he wanted. Hill, who came to Louisiana Tech University with four years of pipeline construction experience, wanted a degree to train him for a good-paying career that he could do outdoors. The Construction Engineering Technology program also having approachable professors who showed an interest in his success – well, that was just lagniappe.

Library, CVB eye Events Center agreement

The Lincoln Parish Library’s Board of Control and the Ruston Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) are engaged in preliminary talks that could potentially see the CVB assume operation of the library Events Center in the near future.

National Guard general to speak at Ruston celebration
