For folks everywhere, October means pumpkin season. In Lincoln Parish there’s one place that has become a pumpkin destination for families across the community — Elli’s Pumpkin Patch. Now in its 12th year, Elli’s Pumpkin Patch has become a go- to place for fall pictures. While the family has always enjoyed decorating the property with different props that create a picturesque backdrop for fall pictures, the idea of inviting the community to visit and make donations for a worthy cause was born when Elli Dickerson was very young. “I came home from a mission trip where we worked with Navajo children and I knew I wanted to continue helping others,” she said. “ So we started the pumpkin patch and each year I decided where the money we raised would go. Every day, I counted the money with my grand-mother and loved visiting with all the people that came to visit. Now I realize how groups and people are really affected by the donations of others and I’m so glad to be a part of that.”
