Woman won’t stop pressuring friend to get surgeries

DEAR HARRIETTE: I have a friend who is physically fit — times 10. She is in her 60s but looks 20 years younger. She recently decided to get a tummy tuck and some other surgeries to tighten up her body. She went out of the country to do it and is super pleased with the results. I’m happy for her, but now she is pushing me to do it, too.

October brought the community together for a worthy cause

In spite of a 100% forecast of rain, over 300 people (and dozens of dogs) showed up at Argent Pavilion on Oct. 29 to Walk a Mile for DART. This was the 10th Annual Walk a Mile fundraiser and community awareness event held by Alpha Chi Omega Beta Psi at Louisiana Tech, and this year they were joined by several other Greek organizations.

SAIL students tour Ruston Daily Leader office, operation

Students Actively Involved in Leadership (SAIL) visited the Ruston Daily Leader Thursday and was given a tour by Publisher Celeste Holley. Students learned the importance of a community newspaper, how the press functions and much more about the daily operation of your local paper. LPRE wins top award for advocacy, community service

Lincoln Parish Retired Educators (LPRE) was well represented at the fall meeting of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association (LRTA), held in Bossier City, Oct. 24-26. Newly-elected President Lazette Watterson presided over the threeday meeting.
