Fourth Friday Jazz at the Dixie

Downtown Ruston once again reveled in the smooth sounds and high vibrations of jazz thanks to the Fourth Friday Jazz concert at the Dixie Center for the Arts. The evening featured the amazing J. Clyde Neal Quintet along with special guests Jhaiya Davis and Kynnedy Paige, all from Grambling State University. A portion of the evening’s proceeds went to benefit the GSU Jazz program. Jazz returns Jan. 25, 2025, with a free concert provided by Russ-Town Jazz, this time benefitting the Dixie.

Lady Techsters fall to Southeastern

Louisiana Tech erased a 14-point halftime deficit and had the game within one with two minutes to play. However, Southeastern would come away with a 59-48 victory in the Thomas Assembly Center on Saturday evening.

Mia Morphew, 3, tells Santa Claus what she wants for Christmas during his stop at Ruston’s Kickoff to Christmas celebration Thursday evening in Railroad Park. The celebration included the official lighting of the city’s all-light Christmas tree, as well as performances by several school choirs.

Quest for a squirrel limit with 10 shotgun shells

I have hunted squirrels for over half a century and over those scores of seasons, I can probably count on one hand the times I’ve brought home a limit. Frankly, I don’t remember the last time I did. I’ve hunted squirrels a long time and have taken my share to the point that bagging a limit would be nice but not necessary. I just enjoy the experience. Period.
