Dear Doctors: I’m pretty good about eating a healthy diet. The exception is each month during my period, when all I seem to want is potato chips and ice cream. Is there something going on with my body, or is this just a good excuse for a few cheat days each month?

Martha Sue Ingram Price (Marty) was born on November 10, 1944, in St. Mary’s, West Virginia, a small town on the Ohio River. She spent her early childhood on the family farm, which had no running water or electricity at that time. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School where she played the clarinet in the Blue Devil Marching Band.
