Schools making calls ahead of winter storm system
Lincoln Parish public schools will be open Thursday as officials continue to monitor incoming winter weather and have not yet made a decision on Friday operations.
Schools Superintendent Ricky Durrett said the district is confident in remaining open Thursday but will likely not make a final call about Friday until Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech University announced Wednesday afternoon that classes will be canceled Thursday and Friday, with a release saying even if campus is not impacted, roadways that many students and faculty travel may become hazardous. Tech Table will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and the Lambright Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
Grambling State University announced Wednesday that all classes will be virtual on Thursday and Friday.
Cedar Creek School was waiting for a Wednesday afternoon briefing from the National Weather Service before making judgments on operations.
Lincoln Preparatory School will also go virtual for classes on Thursday and Friday, Executive Director Gordan Ford said Wednesday evening.
