DEAR HARRIETTE: I belong to a social club. Since sheltering at home began and restaurants and stuff have been closed, they, too, have shut down. Management invited members to contribute to a fund for the staff.
William “Bill” Lewis Whittenburg was born April 6, 1946, in his mother’s hometown of Tiffin, OH, and passed away in Ruston, LA, on June 8, 2020 after a brief illness.
Kelli Lumpkin, the Ruston woman charged with vehicular homicide in the death of her 8-year-old daughter, pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to five years at hard labor, with the first three years without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
While the Lincoln Parish public school system will receive the lion’s share of the $2.3 million CARES Act funding from the federal government in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, five other schools in the parish will also see a cut of the money to help improve student technology and distance learning access.
Teresa Murray, associate professor for biomedical engineering and the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Rehabilitation Sciences at Louisiana Tech University, is collaborating with former Louisiana Tech doctoral student Chelsea Pernici and professors at the University of Arizona to help develop solutions to traumatic brain injury.
