This week, the Southern Cover Crops Council held its annual conference in Baton Rouge, and I was fortunate to sit in on panel discussions with farmers and specialty crops ( vegetables, fruits, nuts and nursery crops) producers. Cover cropping was once a common practice in agricultural history. But by the 1950s in the United States, it was largely abandoned as conventional agriculture relied solely on synthetic fertilizers.

John Chris Stephenson was born on March 8, 1951, in Ruston, and died on February 13, 2023. He is proceeded in death by his parents Silas Adam and Matilda Jane Stephenson, and brother Sonny Stephenson. He is survived by is sister Libby Follet.
Reverend Maynard Rolly Walker was born on May 5, 1938, in De-Quincy, Louisiana to Maynard Matthew Walker and Nell Warren Walker. Rolly peacefully went to Heaven at the earthly age of 84 on Sunday, February 19, 2023, with his wife Johnnie Lou Walker by his side.
Cecil Benjamin Minor, Jr., joined our Lord and Savior in heaven on February 1, 2023. He passed over this side of eternity in Conroe, Texas, surrounded by those he loved.
Adolf “ Wes” Wesselhoeft passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Friday, February 17, 2023, at his home with loved ones by his side. Wes is preceded in death by his parents, Adolf H. and Anna Radtke Wesselhoeft; by his son, Karl; and by his loving guide dog, Blazer.
