The SCILS Region 8 LaSTEM Center at Louisiana Tech University recently worked with local girl scouts to earn their Space Exploration badge. Each scout cracked a code related to the James Webb Telescope and reviewed new pictures taken by the innovative technology before creating a made-to-scale collapsible solar system and model that showed the orbit of the earth and moon around the sun. Each girl also took home a kit to work on the phases of the moon. From left, Addie Vincent, Mallory Cicciarelli, Jamie Newman and Frankie Bergholtz collaborate around their rotation models, and the entire group celebrated with SCILS facilitators at the conclusion of the experience.
