On Tuesday, family and friends helped Doyce Hammons celebrate being “10 decades old” with a celebration fit for her 100 years. Watching from her front yard, Hammons enjoyed a parade that included more than 50 friends and received numerous cards, balloons, homemade treats and plants. Afterwards, she enjoyed cake and ice cream with immediate family. Hammons has lived in the New Hope Community in Choudrant for over 80 years and remains near her children, Reggie and Betty Hammons, Ronnie and Patsy Hammons, and Sharon Hancock.
