If you’ve noticed large brown patches in your lawn, you may have armyworm damage. It is the caterpillars, or larval stage of the adult moth, that feed on turfgrasses such as Bermuda, St. Augustine and Centipede in addition to other agricultural crops.

Farmerville hosted the 58th Annual Watermelon Festival over the weekend, and the official poster was dedicated to the late Zeke Tettleton, who was a business, civic and community leader in Farmerville for decades. Tettleton was the CEO and President of First United Bank, which later became Community Trust Bank, as well as an active member of the Farmerville Lions Club. DEAR HARRIETTE: I was a relatively tall kid in elementary school, but when I reached a certain age, I stopped growing. I watched all of my peers tower over me while my height seemed to freeze in the seventh grade — at about 5 feet, 2 inches.

Residents turned out in full force last weekend despite extreme temperatures as Farmerville hosted its annual Watermelon Festival.
