About 50 people, most waving flags, gathered on the Tarbutton Road bridge Tuesday evening in hopes of cheering on a trucker Freedom Convoy that was supposed to have made its way along I-20 through North Louisiana. However, the convoy took another route through Arkansas, bypassing Louisiana. It wasn’t until several hours after the truckers were to have passed through Ruston that supporters learned of the change. In the meantime, participant Charles Couch, of Ruston, and other supporters waved their flags to oncoming traffic, with many of the drivers sounding their horns in recognition.
