Schools return to class, handle absences

After shutting schools down on Jan. 13-14 for a five-day weekend to recover from high COVID counts and other illnesses, the Lincoln Parish School District reopened this week to find cases and absences down among students but up in the staff population.

Texas man arrested for Wednesday shooting

A Texas man was arrested for aggravated battery Wednesday morning after the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to a shooting at Peachland Mobile Home Park off Hwy. 80 West in Ruston.

Girls Scouts learn about a healthy diet

Girl Scouts Troop 11 from Ruston visited with nutrition and dietetics students from Louisiana Tech University recently. The Tech students gave a presentation to scouts on nutrition and staying healthy. They went over fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, and grains. The Girl Scouts had a chance to color a worksheet.
