Q: I teach 3- and 4-year-olds in a child care center. I always have a few difficult children in any group and the book in which you describe Alpha Speech [The Well-Behaved Child] has been very helpful. My disciplinary options are limited to separating a mis behaving child out of the group for a few minutes and talking, but I cannot isolate or take privileges away. We walk on eggshells when it comes to discipline so that a parent doesn’t file a complaint against us. What suggestions do you have for preschool teachers?
I’ll admit — I’m not one for new year resolutions. I know that I’ll never stick with them because it feels forced. It’s not organic. To me, resolutions are made to appease a yearly tradition, not because you actually want to do these things.
The year 2020 is now almost over and in the rear-view mirror. What a year it was — nothing I have ever experienced and hope our great nation, nor our beautiful planet, ever has to endure again.
