Lincoln Parish families won’t have to travel far this summer to have their kids learn from one of the top high school football teams in the state.
As part of community outreach and development, the Ruston High football team announced its annual Bearcat Football Camp set for Tuesday July 25 to Wednesday July 26.
“Ever since I’ve been here, we’ve done something like this, outside of the COVID year,” Ruston football coach Jerrod Baugh said. “We’ve always had a really good turnout with it, and it’s always been something really good for the kids.”
The camp will run 9 a.m. to noon at T.L. James Field at Hoss Garrett Stadium for incoming kindergarten-9th grade kids, with campers getting a chance to learn the basics of football from Ruston coaches and players.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of camp and $50 is due at registration. Kids are asked to wear a T-shirt and shorts, along with their own cleats to the camp.
During the event, kids will also receive a camp T-shirt.
“We’ll have our football staff out there working it and we’ll get some players to help facilitate drills,” Baugh said. “It’s always a good opportunity for the older kids to give back to the younger kids and help them grow.”
