Betty Joyce Cooper Murphy

Graveside services for Mrs. Betty Joyce Cooper Murphy, age 84 of Dubach, LA, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2020, at Hamilton Cemetery in Dubach, LA with the Rev. Cory Bruce officiating. Services were under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Betty was born to the union of Elmer Lane Cooper and Nancy Inez Sanders Cooper on Aug. 15, 1935, in Dubach, LA, and passed away May 20, 2020, in Ruston, LA.

Betty was a homemaker and was known for her wonderful cooking. She enjoyed birdwatching and she loved to read.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harry Dean Murphy; daughter Belinda Murphy Higgens; her parents: Bill and Nancy Cooper; two sisters: Gloria Morrow and Judy Martin; two brothers: Herschel Cooper and Ellis Cooper; and her beloved dog Sally who was a joy to her life.

Betty is survived by two sisters: Barbara Hanna of Ruston, LA, and Nell Barmore of Dubach, LA; one brother, Ray Cooper and wife Sandra of Bernice, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews and her special friend Shirley McGuire.

Visitation was held from 5 - 7 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2020, at Owens Memorial Chapel.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the entire staff of Princeton Place for their love and kindness to Betty during her stay.
