Walter Troy Biscomb
With deep and abiding love, respect, and profound gratitude for a generous life well-lived and shared, the family of Walter Troy Biscomb announces his passing on Nov. 13, 2021, at his home in Ruston, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston on Monday, November 15, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer at 504 Tech Drive in Ruston, where he was a member.
Interment will follow in Kilpatrick Memorial Gardens, 1270 Hwy. 544 in Ruston.
Troy is preceded in death by parents George Oliver Biscomb and Joyce Baker Biscomb; and sister, Barbara Biscomb McCullin.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Bonnette Biscomb; sister, Beverlee Biscomb James; sister, Kiki Biscomb Wardlaw and husband Chastain Wardlaw; daughter, Attalaya Carpenter Biscomb; son, Jasper Carpenter Biscomb; son, Thomas Troy Biscomb and wife Stephanie; daughter, Rachel Biscomb Ashcraft; son, George Christopher Biscomb and wife Megan; son, Benjamin Paul Biscomb and wife Autumn; grandchildren, Alyssa Biscomb Schuldt and husband Scott, Mitchell Biscomb and wife Kelsey, Anna Ashcraft, Will Ashcraft, Avery Biscomb, Chase Biscomb, Blake Thomas, Kade Biscomb, Kadence Nugent, Kolbie Nugent; great-grandson, Milo Biscomb and numerous nieces and nephews.
Troy also dearly loved two special daughters, Rhonda Biscomb and Rachel Rodriguez, and the family extends special thanks and appreciation to Sandra Hart, Bobby Conville and Rick Emerson for their deep friendship and loyalty.
Born in Goshen, Indiana, on February 7, 1945, Troy moved with his family to Ruston at age nine, and it has been home ever since. Troy was a graduate of Ruston High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. Troy’s humble beginnings created in him an unrelenting drive to succeed in everything he did.
Professionally, he worked as a drilling mud engineer in the oil fields of Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. But from his first paper route at age eight, Troy had an irrepressible entrepreneurial spirit that ultimately found its outlet in various aspects of the transportation business, including owning car dealerships, a tire store, and founding Rebel Transportation 35-plus years ago.
He loved vehicles of all kinds and was always on the hunt for his next great ride. Charming and charismatic, Troy had a mind for business, and a heart for people. Friends recall a soft-spoken, gentle, and generous man who helped others in need, whether it was his own family, an unrelated family trying to make ends meet, a student he just met struggling to afford tuition, or a young couple trying to adopt a baby.
Troy would always, without question or hesitation, quietly extend a helping hand. Married to the love of his life and best friend Angie “Belle” Biscomb for 27 years, Troy loved family deeply, as manifested by his decision late in life to adopt Angie’s grandchildren, Atta and Jasper, as his own, and finding yet another level of purpose, commitment, and love in an already full life.
The value and love they brought to each other is immeasurable. When asked to describe Troy in one word, his family and friends could not. Phrases included ... larger than life, kind, giving, comfortable, generous to a fault, non-judgmental, a great dancer, a loyal LSU and Saints fan, a true and loyal friend, a loving husband and father, and a lively spirit who loved life. Truer words have rarely been spoken.
Troy is cherished by his family and friends and will be missed by many.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Chautauqua Woods School in memory of “PopPop,” as all the kids called Troy (PO Box 280, Ruston, LA 71273).
Pallbearers will be Scott Schuldt, Mitch Biscomb, Avery Biscomb, Chase Biscomb, Blake Thomas, Will Ashcraft, Kade Biscomb, Josh Chance, and Jeremiah Lee.
Honorary Pallbearers are Chastain Wardlaw, Bobby Conville, David Neal, and Henry Shirley.
