Amy Lou Shaw Jones was born February 4, 1967 to Patsy and Alva “Sug” Shaw in Ruston. She passed away in the early morning of March 15, 2024, succumbing to a brief illness. Amy lived in Ruston her entire life, attending Ruston High School, and graduating in 1985. In 1988, she met her husband of nearly 35 years, Scott Jones, whom she married on August 19, 1989.
The next three decades she and Scott bore and raised two sons: Corey and Colby Jones, her “most precious achievement” in her words. Amy and Scott were committed to raising their children in the Christian faith, attending Cook Baptist Church (their wedding location) and later Calvary Baptist Church.
Amy was a loving daughter, wife, friend, and mother, and a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren: Brooklyn, Bentley, and Brennan. She loved traveling, spending quality time with her family, and indulging in the best British costume dramas television had to offer.
She will be missed by all who knew her, and remembered and honored by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alva “Sug” Shaw.
Left to treasure her memory is her husband of nearly 35 years, Scott Jones; mother, Pat Shaw; sons, Corey Jones and wife Lauren, and Colby Jones; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bentley, and Brennan; mother-in-law, Barbara Hogan; brothers, Edward “ Shorty” Shaw and wife June, and Alva “Al” Shaw, Jr.; and numerous friends, nieces, and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Jones, Cameron Jones, Reid McCreary, Jeremy Shaw, Caleb Shaw, and Matt Frost. Honorary pallbearers include Drew Skains and Bryan Ray.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2024, at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. To leave an online memorial message please visit www. owensmemorialfuneralhome. com.
