Effie Marie Burgess Hammett

Graveside services for Effie Marie Burgess Hammett, of Ruston, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at St. Rest Cemetery, in Dubach, with Interment to follow.

Marie was born April 2, 1930, to Eugene and Agnes Hedgepeth, and passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at the age of 92 years. She worked at Lincoln General Hospital for 30 years as an Admitting Clerk, and was a member of Grace Methodist

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Loyce Burgess; and second husband, James Hammett; as well as a sister, Mattie Thomas; and brothers, Billy Hedgepeth and

Loy Hedgepeth. Marie is survived by her daughter, Brenda

Lee and husband Johnny of Ruston; granddaughter, Lexie Scriber and husband Jeremy of Minden; and two great grandsons, Luke Scriber and Andrew Scriber; nephews, Fred Baxter and Carl Calvin Thomas Jr.; nieces, Martha White, Janelle Sullivan and Cindy Thomas Bennett.
