Another day, another Grambling State program making the NCAA postseason.
After walking off Jackson State to win the SWAC Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, Grambling State (26-26) learned its postseason destination on Monday as the Tigers are headed to the College Station Regional at Texas A&M.
The Tigers will play the Aggies in game one, with No. 2 seed Texas or No. 3 seed Louisiana waiting.
It will be GSU's fifth overall NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2010, continuing a banner year for GSU athletics after men's basketball made its first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, women's basketball made a WNIT appearance.
"It's a great opportunity to represent our league and get our brand out there," GSU head coach Davin Pierre said. "I just have to remind our guys they belong on this stage. They earned it. This is something we said we wanted to do and now we've done it. Now, we have to go out and compete."
"I think we're going to have to pitch well and we're going to have to hit fastballs. At our level, we normally don't see the level of fastballs we're going to see in the regional. We have to be productive and not go out there and get overwhelmed by the moment."
