Ruston police have arrested three local teenagers in connection with the Thursday afternoon shooting death of 23-year-old Charvaz Crawford.

Yannie Potts, 17, is charged with second-degree murder, while Jaylin Jones and O’Mari Johnson, both 18, are each charged with obstruction of justice.

The arrests came shortly after noon Friday, police Chief Steve Rogers said.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Cinnamon Square apartments on Farmerville Street, Rogers said. Officers were notified of a gunshot victim, later identified as Crawford, at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center emergency room.

Crawford had been shot in the chest, Rogers said. Police are still investigating what lead to the shooting.
