Nestorova proposal chosen to take part in NASA research program

A research proposal written by Gergana Nestorova, Assistant Professor of Biology and the program chair for the graduate program in Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology (MSNT) at Louisiana Tech University, has been chosen to take part in NASA’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR).

VFW visits veterans at nursing homes

Members of VFW Post 3615 made special visits to area nursing homes to help veterans in residence celebrate the Fourth of July. The post put together goody bags for each veteran that included snacks and special cards. In the late 1890s the Cumberland Telephone and Telegraph Company opened an exchange in the second floor of the Judge Holstead building. Logan Arnold was manager. In 1897, the Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company operated an exchange and was granted a franchise by the town in 1899. Robert Null was the first manager and Misses Eva and Ethel Robinson were early operators.
