Ruston hosting softball, basketball events

The Ruston Sports Complex will be hosting two tournaments this weekend, one indoor and one outdoor. Both tournaments feature girls teams. The outdoor tournament is a USSSA Softball event with 19 teams.

Ruston High senior Reid Williams has stepped up this season for the Bearcats and had his best weekend yet in four games of the Trey Altick Classic. On Thursday he pitched a complete game shutout on 3 hits and struck out 14 Destrehan batters. At the plate he added 2 hits in 6 at bats with 4 runs scored and an RBI in three other wins.

After helping Louisiana Tech extend its winning streak to 11 with a perfect 3-0 mark this past week, Ilana Tetruashvili was named Conference USA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week. The senior went a perfect 6-0 in wins over Tarleton State, UTSA and Incarnate, getting three victories in doubles as well as three victories in singles.
