Edwin Barton Miller, Jr.

Edwin Barton Miller, Jr., Technical Sergeant (Ret.) United States Air Force, died surrounded by his family on October 18, 2023. He was 86 years old.

He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Mary Ann Evelyn Cooper Miller; daughter, Patricia Ann Miller Laque and her husband Jim Laque; son, Robert Joseph Miller and his wife Trisha Brown Miller; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin Barton Miller, his mother Doris Postlewait Miller, his brother Melvin (Mickey) Miller, and two sons, David Steven Miller, and Edwin Barton Miller, III.

Edwin joined the Air Force when he was 17 years old. He served his country in many locations across two continents, including West Berlin during the Cold War and at remote Alaskan radar sites as a radar operator and air traffic control specialist.

After retiring from the military Edwin became a skilled machinist. He taught his skills to students at a vocational technical school in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. He took great satisfaction in placing his machinist school graduates in stable jobs with local companies.

He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Edwin will be interred at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.
